How I Set Up My M-VAVE MK300 for Seben

Recently, I have been getting some direct messages and comments from viewers about how I Set up my M-VAVE MK300 pedal for Seben— I’m going to be sharing that here, shortly.

Seben music or Sebene as sometimes spelt, is a style of music often credited to DR Congo. This style of music features characteristic tones from the lead guitars and rhythm guitars. Some of us from this part of the world (Nigeria) often call it “Makossa”. The lead guitars could play it with a clean tone or a distorted tone depending on the mood of the song or the guitarist. The clean tones often leave a lingering guitar sound, due to the use of a delay pedal.

Setting up any multi-effect pedal for Seben is pretty simple, as you only need one ingredient for Seben guitar— the delay pedal.

If you are going to be playing through the front of your guitar amplifier, then a delay pedal should just be enough for a clean Seben tone.

However, if there’s a need to play directly through a mixer or soundcard without a guitar amplifier, you might need a multi effects unit or a virtual amplifier simulator and a delay pedal in order to get the seben tone.

The trick in setting up your delay pedal is the timing.

The delay pedal timing for seben guitar is usually very fast, with some audible repetitions. Do not overdo it or you risk sounding really bad to listeners.

The M-VAVE MK300 is one versatile and affordable pedal. I have used this pedal for over 5 months for both my bass guitar and my electric guitar. It has some good stock presets and effects that can be used for any genre of music.

I use the M-VAVE MK300 for all kinds of music… And I also love the fact that it is rechargeable.

I wouldn’t want to bore you with a lot of words.
